West Reading Delivery April 3rd

Dear Friends of B & H Organic Produce,

Happy Spring to you all. 

We will be doing a delivery this week.   We are ready to get back in the swing of things and the greenhouses are finally ready to yield their greens.

Below you will find the list for what you can order this week for pick up in West Reading.  If you are interested in purchasing our products in the Morgantown area please visit Hartz Natural Foods.

Our meats are available year round.   All of our beef is 100% grass fed.  We do not finish the beef on corn and we never use artificial hormones or antibiotics. 

We have whole chickens and parts available as well.  We raise the chicken on the farm in the summer and they are free to roam.  We feed the chickens our own Certified Organic grain.  No GMO’s in our meats!

So where can you buy our produce and meat in the winter months?

·      There is a store on our farm – Hartz Natural Foods.  I highly recommend calling ahead of time to check on availability of the produce and meats.  Hartz’s is open Monday through Saturday from 9 am till 6 pm, 610-286-5268.  The best produce days are Wednesday through Friday.  211 Twin County Rd Morgantown (Twin County Rd is also RT 10.  The store is only 1.5 miles from 176 and only 16 miles from West Reading.)

·      Don’t forget you can eat our veggies at Papillon Brasserie.  This restaurant is that place you can find our veggies dressed up for a night out on the town. http://www.papillononpenn.com/

This week we will be offering vegetables to be delivered to West Reading.  This is a pay as you go system and all items are on a first come first serve basis.   You must preorder the vegetables by emailing me at bhorganics@gmail.com.  I will respond to your email with a total price and the address for the pick up. 

We will be delivering on Wednesday April 3rd this week.  The delivery will be at 5 pm and you will have till 8 pm to pick up the order.  Please email me your order by Tuesday evening at 9 pm. 

For this week, Thursday January 10th we will have:

·      Spinach – ½ lb bag $5.00

·      Spicy Mix – ½ lb bag $5.00

·      Kale – ¾ lb bag $3.00

·      Collard greens – ¾ lb $3.00

We will have our meats available as well.  All the meat is frozen.

·      Whole Chickens 3-4 lb $18.00

·      Beef:

o   Ground 1 lb $6

o   Cubes 1 lb $7

o   Sweet Bologna (sliced) 1 lb $7

o   Sausages 1 lb $8  flavors- Kielbasa, Italian, Hot Italian, Maple, Sage and Fresh.

o   Hot Dogs 1 lb $10

o   Beef Sticks (our version of Slim Jims) – ½ lb $8.5  flavors – mild, sweet or hot.

o   Steaks – ½ lb $7 Delmonico, NY Strip, Flat Iron

o   Roasts – 2-3 lb $17 London Broil, Eye Roast, Chuck Roast, Sirloin Roast, Mock Tender Roast.

Spring for B & H

Dear Friends of B & H Organic Produce,

            Spring has sprung at the farm although the weather doesn’t show it.  This spring is drastically different than last year, but beautiful all the same. 

            We were able to pick greens from the greenhouses throughout the winter but not in the volume I would have liked.  January and February were dark months and the greens really needed the sunlight to thrive.  But, they are coming around now and you can find our greens for sale in our store, Hartz Natural Foods and prepared at Papillon Brasserie.

            I am emailing to let you know about a few things coming up at the farm and beyond. 

·      Have you liked us on Facebook?  Please do it is a great way to see what is going on at the farm in real time. 

·      Our “Events” page of our website is up.  There are 2 changes that will be corrected in the next few days. http://www.bhorganicproduce.com/events.html

o   The West Reading Farmer’s Market will be opening earlier this year.  The new date for the market opening is May 12^th.

o   The Rt. 10 Organic Grower’s and Nursery Tour will be held on September 7^th.

·      Our vegetable CSA is sold out for the 2013 season.  You may email us to get on our waiting list for the 2014 season.   We sold out of shares in record time.  I am very excited.  There are bread shares from Daily Loaf still available.  You can find the information on our CSA page of our website. http://www.bhorganicproduce.com/subscribe.html

·      We will begin selling vegetable starts for your garden this Saturday March 30^th  at our store, Hartz Natural Foods (211 Twin County Rd (Rt 10) Morgantown.  We will be selling certified organic Kale, Chard, Cabbage and Broccoli plants.  These plants will also be available for sale at Sugarbush Nursery http://www.sugarbushnursery.com/.

·      We are sorry to announce that we will not be attending The Farmer’s Market at Elverson this season.  It is a lovely market and we will surely miss being there.  It is a purely a business decision to expand the CSA in place of attending this Saturday market. 

·      On May 18^th we will be hosting our Meet the Farmer Day and Open House at the farm.  This is a free event for families to come to the farm and learn more about where their food comes from.  The event is held from 9 am till 1 pm with tours at 10 am and noon.
