                                                                                                                                        First CSA Harvest

We are very proud to announce our first CSA harvest of the 2009 season.
We will be posting the available crops for harvest at the beginning of each weekend.  If you see something you would particularly like or dislike please email us (www.bhorganicproduce.com)by Monday evening and we will try our best to accommodate your requests.
Wednesday June 3rd will be your first pick up at your selected sites.  On the first evening you will find someone at your site to help you through the process.  If you have any questions please contact B & H (www.bhorganicproduce.com or 610-372-8318).  Please let us know if you will not be picking up your vegetables on a particular week.  The site "host" is not responsible for the produce delivered.
The following is a list of items ready for harvest this week: (Items in bold are pictured above)
Strawberries
Swiss Chard (Rainbow)
Kale (Dino or Lacinato)
Lettuce ( Green and Red Romaine, Pirat and Speckled Bibb- both Butterheads)
Arugula
Salad Mix
Spinach
Baby Boc Choi
Radishes (Purple Plum and French Breakfast)
Chives
Garlic Chives (Chinese Chives)

Greens are abundant right now.  Greens are a great spring treat for cleansing and alkalizing the body.  We encourage you to eat with the seasons for your health.  All of the above greens may be eaten raw in salads or added to stir-frys.  I love adding greens to dishes at the end to keep them crunchy and fresh.
Some suggestions for this weeks veggies:
Strawberry Spinach Salad
Swiss Chard Quiche
Baby Boc Choi in Miso Soup
Kale steamed and tossed with roasted garlic, lemon juice and tamari.
Radishes as a yummy crunchy snack.
Arugula on pizza with caramelized onions, figs and feta cheese.
Do not hesitate to google recipes for any of these items.
And if you find a great recipe please pass it on to us.  We are currently building a recipe data base for our website.
Thank you all and have a great week.
